Why White Wine stains are tricky

Tannin compounds are polyphenolic molecules that bond to fabric through hydrogen bridges and rapidly oxidize on contact with air.

How to prevent White Wine stains

White wine oxidises invisibly as it dries — treat it immediately even if the stain looks gone. On tablecloths, applying a spray starch before use makes fibres less absorbent and easier to wipe down.
