Why Lipstick stains are tricky

Cosmetic stains consist of pigment particles suspended in an oil or wax binder, sometimes with film-forming polymers from foundations and mascaras.

How to prevent Lipstick stains

Keep the lipstick cap on when not in use. If lipstick transfers to a collar or lapel, do not rub — the wax binder will smear and expand the stain. A dish soap pre-treatment breaks the wax component effectively.
