Why Vomit stains are tricky

Protein stains contain amino acid chains that denature and coagulate above 40°C, permanently cross-linking with fabric fibers — which makes cold water the single most critical first step.

How to prevent Vomit stains

Remove solid matter immediately before adding any liquid. Keep latex or rubber gloves nearby for quick response. Enzyme-based sprays in the laundry room are the most effective treatment for the protein and acid content.
