Grab first
- 1Let the wax harden completely, then scrape it off with a plastic card or butter knife. Act before it dries. Because this is colored fabric, test solvents or peroxide on a hidden inside area before treating the visible stain. Use less liquid and less rubbing than usual because this fabric is sensitive.
- 2Place a paper bag or brown paper over the leftover wax and run a warm iron over it — the wax soaks into the paper
- 3Dab any remaining color stain with rubbing alcohol, then wash normally
Do not: pour boiling water over it — the wax spreads into the fibers before it sets.

Why this works
Wax stains are solid paraffin or plant-based hydrocarbons that penetrate deep into fabric structure as they cool and solidify around the fibers. Chilling with ice first hardens any remaining soft wax for clean mechanical removal, then heat from a warm iron transfers the residual wax into absorbent paper through capillary action — no solvents required. Rayon is a semi-synthetic fiber made from regenerated cellulose that weakens significantly when wet and distorts easily from agitation or heat. All treatments should use gentle blotting rather than rubbing, and the garment should be laid flat to dry to preserve its shape and dimensions.
